Piradinha... same "Delicia"!

Not Michel Telo... but almost.

Piradinha - Little Crazy

Main soap opera is "Amor a Vida", it has peculiar caracter and the hot hit in popular radios...  not sure I will be patient enough to translate the lyrics.

Piri, pipire, pipire, pire piradinha
Ela tá maluca, ela Ta doidinha

Piri, pipire, pipire, pire piradinha
Ela ta doidona, fora da casinha

Ela não anda, ela desfila
Quando chega na festa
Arrasa na pista

A galera olha
Todo mundo que pegar
Mais ela tá de boa
Só querendo dançar

Mais de pois de um tempo
Bebe e fica piradinha
Ela desçe do salto
A gatinha perde a linha

Who is brazilian president?

Yes... I was very impressive  when a few friends thought a chauvist country has a Dilma Roussef, as a president by elections and with a huge popular support. She is famous for actually had been from left party *it there is something like parties in Brazil. She had Lula's support to be elected.
In her past, she suffer with militar straight ... even she had past by tortured.
Most of woman are proud of her....  and Brazil is NOT a chauvist country.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilma_Rousseff

The program for redistribution of lands, is woman centered... the piece of land is registered in the wive's name. The money for supporting poor kids to still at school is receive just by the mother. Well... it was more a solution for logistical problem. Guys sometimes use the money of kids for other stuff or sell the piece of land... without considering the family. So, it now is a woman... even the simple poor lady has assure the rights.

Rational Minorities... not easy solutions for a brazilian mix population!

After some theory of justice studies, someone try to solve a social problem with a race/racist solution...

The example is real, based in the minority special quotes at the universities:
  • 160 students selected per year for public the medical universities of Curitiba (my city, my university)
  • Minorities were not represented at there.
  • Since 2006, a new inclusion rules save 20% for black, 20% for public school students, 5% for native brazilian indians and 5% for disabilities.
  • My position in 1996: 123º
The orientals were strongly segregate!
Copy and paste, a North American/European solution, will never work in our complex society.

Brazilian Killer - Muslim? - Save the Sincretism!

Today, Brazil reached at news all over the world...unfortunatly, not about any soccer play.
A young male, named Wellington, 24 years old had killed 10 girls and 01 boy in Rio inside a school class. He had written a letter that just parcial pieces got online so far, and this initial speculation about some muslim influences. It is crazy! How Brazil can have a extreme muslim? Internet? This facts should be check, this misleading information should not create religious tensions.
Officers had mentioned it during the morning and his sister too - but I must admit our public educational system sucks and our average knowledge about other religions is close to zero...moreover, those persons who declared it were under such wage of tensions today. So, we should have caution to interprete it.
So, the piece of the letter open to public there is mention of God, not Allah, and his desiares to meet "Jesus" - not muslim at all.
The ritual procedure for the funeral that he described as his last wish, is muslim.. or he just copied from terrorist?

The most beautiful brazilian expression is "religious sincretism", in my opinion - we should teach the world it. We need to learn a lot of other stuff too... but let's keep tolerance as a word of brazilian roots.

Chaos Theory in Social Context of Brazi

"Hence, although ‘prosocial’ is for behavioural scientists a term of art

denoting certain traits which may promote small-group harmony, in the context

of global humanity, so called “prosocial” behaviour may in fact be

anti-social as well as unethical; it does not always promote either individual

good or good society as we now understand it in the philosophical and

political sense. Indeed, one of the greatest moral challenges facing us this

century is the problem of global sustainability and development, and it is

becoming increasingly clear that ethical solutions to this problem may require

us to inflict harm (or withhold benefit, which can amount to the same thing

morally but also apparently emotionally, according to the results from the

Ultimatum Game) at a local level in order to benefit more others, or avoid

greater harms, at the level of the wider community."

Harris and Chan, Journal of Medical Ethics/2011

Ethical consequences of globalization, seems to me so close to the chaos teory.
"The fact that you buy this Zara's cashmere made in Bangladesh, is actually inflict in local consequences in Bangladesh."

I do like to considere the brazilian expertise in this:
"The marijuna they smoke in the fancy universities, it is actually increase the criminality between kids at the favelas"

Why brazilians are always late? - a revisited version.

Should say it is because we have a big cultural influence of italians?
Recently, I could figure out that all my classes starts at least with 5 minutes of delay. Usually, if the professor is there, half of the students are not. Not really ealy in the morning, around 9:00... So, I was deeply glad to know, brazilians are not the only one!

I should give a piece of advice, in south of Brazil, the "later flexibility" may not be exactly follow... we have germans there.

We hate ourselves - brazilian xenophobia.

I got so sad after reading the news today... a young brazilian, law student, from Sao Paulo was inciting xenophobia by Twitter: Kill people from northeast of Brazil!

Xenophobia from the South to North is not new, it just stupid...

She had political motivation after the elections but a narrow mind... she has the same point of view of people who complain the airports in Brazil are full because there is too much poor people!

If lower classes in Brazil have more money to spend in travelling, they also have more money to by the medicaments I prescribe. I truly hope not see anymore useless death of a 18 year old girl for lack of money to buy a simple medicine... I prefer travelling in a full airplane or wait more in the restaurants...

What is a X9?

Sometimes portuguese get difficult even for me... I went to Tropa de Elite 2 and some lines I just could not understand. No problem, they are from Rio... but when my boyfriend told me: X9! I got really puzzled, how policial and prision languages are now in normal conversation. Portuguese as any language is alive...
I am really glad Cassio spent his childhood and teenager years in one of most dangerous areas in Sao Paulo... he is really good in all this translation.

X9 is the one who tells a secret in some favor, like Judah in the Bible.

How to make a brazilian angry?

1- Asking if our capital is Buenos Aire. Just to reasure... it is not. It's Brasília.

2- Speak Spanish with us as it was our born language... it is not. It is Portuguese.

If  you both combine... and this "brazilian" not even care to correct you... it is a fake one.

Elite Squad 2 - the movie and social influences.

Elite Squad 1 was a huge sucess  in 2008. A brazilian Golden Bear in Berlin! A lot of brazilian fans! Lines from the movie got in daily life. I loved this film. Loved... in past. Now, we have Elite Squad 2, today at the theater!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsZP9ZX3fsI

After my own most personal violent experience, a kidnapping at 31st of December of 2009. I change myself and my view about violence and about Elite Squad.I'll watch this movie for sure... My concern is the simplicist view that violence can be understood, as it happened with Elite Squad1. Violence was treated with more violence and there is a happy end...!

In real life,  an old policial officer chief with a cerebral hematoma told me in his hospital bed, the secrets to reduce violence in Brazil would be: Education, Health and Safety... just safety by killing "the bad guys", it is a videogame illusion. More bad guys will appear if you don´t fix the other parts of the chain... and they will take your girlfriend or they will shout you in your face.

Violence is an important subject seen for most of people just in the which way is the best for protect themselves... if this way of protection is not well worked, the fear will grow and we will be prisioners.

Dedicated to Cassio...for making me shut up in the police station when I was screamming: "Now, who will give me my sense of freedom back again?"

Brazil and Argentina hate each other?

Not true!

Carol´s Pic at Havanna Cafe - Sao Paulo
Is the same hate between French and Germans? Well... there is Jules et Jim by François Truffaut. The same way we can match this amazin "dulce de leche" with nice brazilian espresso coffee.
It may have some historical conflicts and mainly the soccer conflicts. The brazilians who may say this just never visit our neighbors or not had enough "dulce de leche".

Why brazilian girls don't play soccer?

For my past background, it means medium-class educated girls, it was not even an option. It was always treat as a "sport for boys", maybe because the violence or cultural, all the exemples at that time was from great man soccer players.
My physical activities during childhood and teenager's year was more for volleybal and basketball. I hate both... but is not the case, it can make people surprise but I never played  soccer for real. You will not see easily a casual soccer game between girls here. I never meet my female friends to do it, while is common sport for guys from my brother until my father's age.

I just played in PS3 and beat my boyfriend when I do it!I know it really doesn't count...
