Short explanation about history in Brazil...and why doctors should not come to Brazil!

What is going on in Brazil? The first street massive occupation was the brazilian demand for fair price to public transportation. It would increase 0,20 BRL but, after 10 days of intense popular protests, the price still the same in Sao Paulo City 3,00 BRL.

Well, it is not historically that brazilians go marching on streets for some causes. He had the "Cara Pintadas" *painted faces, they were important voice against a former brazilian president  "Fernando Collor" who was suffered the impechment process.

Still looking back, I was born during a strong dictatorial government. Hard times of repressions, censure and violent murders made by police against regular population, Not regular population, but just brains that could work for democratic country.

Now, we can voted directly for president, majors, senate and senators. Economy is fair more stable then 15 years ago - when I could have chocolate just in special days. Problems old and new still existing, but it is stupid to not agree that we have better life quality. We are a huge country, diverse culture, weather and education - how to be fair to all?

At least education and health should be priority in this moments. Not sure Dilma's actions lately will turn in real improvements.
The need of medical doctors in some areas of the country, is one issue... but it is one problem insert in a more complex scenario. When you don't have a single medications to help... or clean water, basic tests, or when the population don't have their own toothbrush *(all the family share one, that spread hepatites...) - no doctor likes to see that! Any good physician hates to see their patients dying for stupid reasons. You can fight against it, ... again, you need political power to do it. After a few years, you got a bit tired... and you as a doctor enjoy to see a patient getting better.

Who is brazilian president?

Yes... I was very impressive  when a few friends thought a chauvist country has a Dilma Roussef, as a president by elections and with a huge popular support. She is famous for actually had been from left party *it there is something like parties in Brazil. She had Lula's support to be elected.
In her past, she suffer with militar straight ... even she had past by tortured.
Most of woman are proud of her....  and Brazil is NOT a chauvist country.

The program for redistribution of lands, is woman centered... the piece of land is registered in the wive's name. The money for supporting poor kids to still at school is receive just by the mother. Well... it was more a solution for logistical problem. Guys sometimes use the money of kids for other stuff or sell the piece of land... without considering the family. So, it now is a woman... even the simple poor lady has assure the rights.

Capoeira! Play, fight or dancing?

Capoeira was born from Brazilian Slavery History, it was a smart way of african-slaves in Brazil trainning their fight skills and pretending they are dancing.
The moviments are just amazing they just seems to fly, the fact of being a marcial art with music it just add more charm.
By chance this picture was taken in Manaus, but I could be in others north-northeast areas. Not so common to see performances at streets in others regions.

I never thougt it will be that fast! Dilma Roussef is brazilian president!

A historical event happened last night, brazilians could choose a woman for run the country!
Considering, brazilian woman could just vote with freedom since 1946 and, now, a first female president is elected... short time! Big chances!

She was not my first choice for president, althought I am quite glad in listen all the woman who work with me (seven today) more participative in politics and interest for the social-economical question.

Woman may demanding more for other woman... but it is ok, she is our president! We can demand!

September 7th, Brazilian Declaration of Independence

Today, it's holiday in Brazil... Independence! It was 7th of September of 1822 when a portuguese prince said: "Independencia ou Morte!" (Independence or Die!)... today, there is school parades and some comemorative stuff.

If we can divide independence for a country in: political, economical, cultural and intelectual.... I would say 7th of September didn't even mark the political independency... well, it was made by a PORTUGUESE prince? It actually just come later.For economical, we still working on this...and the last two decades has showed impressive advantages. Cultural brazilian independency is being clear growing, because today we don't just like english song or movies... we have our music and arts. Intelectual independency, we didn't even try... next decades maybe.

So 7th September, it can be a mark, a trigger... but we need still work on it.
